Prenatal Care with Sana Sana Midwifery

The midwives at Sana Sana Midwifery are licensed in the state of Texas to provide comprehensive prenatal care to those with low risk pregnancies planning to give birth at home. Licensed Midwives are independent healthcare providers and consult with physicians or refer clients to hospital-based care as needed.  

It is our pleasure to care for pregnant people of all ages, cultures, religions and family structures. 

You can expect:

• One hour long prenatal visits to ask questions, discuss desires and expectations, and get to know the midwife and birth team - we want to know you!

• Family-centered visits in the comfort of your home

• Individualized, culturally sensitive care with respect for your customs and traditions

• An assumption that pregnancy is a normal, healthy state

• Generous information and support

• Your full participation in all decisions regarding your care

• Regular risk assessment, including monitoring blood pressure, hands-on belly checks and listen to baby’s heartbeat at every visit

• Routine labs done during prenatal visits

• Referrals for ultrasound and consultation to our community partners as needed

• Online access to your medical records and test results

• Your midwife on-call and available to you 24/7/365

General frequency of prenatal visits:

• You may start care as early in pregnancy as you like

• Monthly visits until approximately 28 weeks

• Visits every two weeks until approximately 36 weeks

• Weekly visits until 41 weeks

• Visits every few days through 42 weeks

• More frequent visits are available at any time

When your baby is due:
Your midwife is on-call to attend your birth from 37 weeks up to 42 weeks of pregnancy. Those giving birth to their first babies should expect to go past their “due date.”
